ABC World News Tonight Highlights Access to Care Issue
Chicago, April 25, 2012 – The topic of the lack of access to oral health care for the poor reached a national audience last night with this story from ABC's World News Tonight. Though the segment focuses on the issue of reimbursement and how few providers accept Medicaid patients, it informs the public about this important and persistent problem with America's health care system.

ADHA Applauds Senate Subcommittee Hearing on Access to Oral Health Care Issues
Chicago, February 29, 2012 – The American Dental Hygienists' Association commends the Senate Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging for continuing to shine a spotlight on the oral health care crisis in this country. The subcommittee, chaired by Bernard Sanders of Vermont, held a hearing this morning entitled "Dental Crisis in America: the Need to Expand Access."

CODA Accepts Recommendation to Require Needs Assessment to Determine the Feasibility of Proposed Dental Hygiene Programs

Chicago, February 3, 2012—Today the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) ruled to accept the recommendation to require a formal needs assessment to determine the feasibility of proposed dental hygiene programs.
